Jason and I married in 2008. Jason was deployed overseas just after our weeding for 12 months. Once he returned home we started trying to get pregnant. I would cross my fingers and just hope. My OB/GYN sent us for all the necessary testing and everything was good. I confided in a friend that was going to SGFC. We scheduled our first appointment in 2010. There we met Dr. O'Brien. I can remember thinking this is going to get real fast! We started with timed treatment, then moved on to IUI. We were hit hard when our insurance did not cover any fertility treatment. Three IUI procedures and we still weren't pregnant. I was drained from the travel and the emotional journey. We decided to move on to IVF. We spoke with Dr. O'Brien and here we go again. Two IVF and a frozen embryo transfer all resulted in us not becoming pregnant. Each time I got that call I would cry and ask why? We weren't able to do it financially anymore and I wasn't sure I could put myself through more disappointment! Until I received an email from SGFC. SGFC was offering a study through Nora. What the heck, is there a possibility we would qualify? Shortly I got a call from Quiana that we were candidates and Dr. O'Brien would be calling. Let's do it again. Driving 240 miles daily, monitoring appointments, working, giving myself shots, prepared us for our transfer. Dr. O'Brien was there for our transfer! We transfered two great embryos. Then the wait began. I was a human pin cushion still giving myself a shot daily. Finally, the two week wait was up! I would make what I thought was my last drive to Rockville. I can remember Quiana saying to me Stay positive I'll talk to you soon. She asked if I wanted her to call me or email me my test results. I thought to myself, I didn't actually have to hear the words I'm sorry you're not pregnant and I wouldn't have to try to keep my composure on the phone if I went with email. I wasn't even home yet and I had an email. It said Congratulations you are pregnant! I couldn't believe it. I was shaking with excitement and I wanted to call everyone I possibly could. We made our ultrasound appointment with SGFC and it was bitter sweet as we were so excited to see the heartbeat, but we were also leaving the one place that gave us hope that our dreams were possible. We were so happy to announce on June 5, 2014 that we welcomed a healthy baby boy John.
We owe so much to the hard working individuals at SGFC as they kept our hopes and dreams alive.
