We had tried to get pregnant for 18 months. I had already been diagnosed with Endometriosis when I was only 16 so I knew getting pregnant naturally wasn't going to be easy. My OBGYN suggested we see Dr. Mottla at Shady Grove. The staff at Shady Grove and Dr. Mottla were wonderful, he sat us down and explained our plan and also broke the news to me that I also have PCOS. Even as hopeless as pregnancy seemed at that point, we just took one month at a time. Dr. Mottla started us on our first IUI cycle. We gave it 6 attempts and of course the negative pregnancy tests for those first 5 months were excrutiating. The 6th and last attempt with IUI we were PREGNANT. Unfortunately when we came in for our 1st sonogram, I had a blighted ovum and there was no baby. I don't think my husband and I have ever felt such dispair that we felt at that moment and then we lose my father-in-law just a month later. Dr. Mottla was so sypathetic and encouraging, we decided to keep moving and go with Invitro. So here we are about 2 1/2 years into TTC. Our egg retrieval goes off without a hitch but we recieve a call out of my 11 eggs, only 1 had matured enough to be implanted. So we were feeling like the inevitable negative pregnancy test call was going to come. Not this time though, we got the YOUR PREGNANT phone call we had been praying for. To see the little heartbeat at our first sonogram has to be one of the defining moments in my life, we did it, we finally got our miracle.
